Excellent cutter for photos and paper. It has horizantal and verticle solid/broken lines that make it very easy to align where one needs to cut. This has a guillotine-like curved blade, spring loaded against the cutting edge to keep the blade sharp. The blade can be locked down by a pin on the side. When the blade is raised a hold-down fixture raises at the same time. After one aligns what is to be cut and the blade is lowered this hold-down fixture lowers and holds tightly in place to the board what is to be cut. The only impervement needed is to somehow mark the cutting edge. One needs to feel where the edge is or use a bright light. Annoying? Yes, but I had no problems finding the edge by feel.
